Direct IMAP/SMTP account setup only would work only for email. We just feel that using the OAuth, even in the older version, is the safer option, which also allows continued use of AirSync synchronization of Contacts/Calendars. We have created a workaround for the issue, which can be found here: The issue is indeed with Microsoft servers, and other mail apps also experience it (we even discussed it with other devs) they just use different workarounds or change the setting in different ways - for example using direct login with app password might also work on some accounts, since the issue is JUST with the latest version of secure OAuth login.
